Charts
Every game: each dot is one of the team's games, in order, each season apart. The dashed line is the season's average; the darker band is within one standard deviation of it (average ± 1 SD), the lighter within two (average ± 2 SD). The standard deviation is the population's, over the season's games.
For a percentage, a ratio or a rating, each dot is the game's own figure and the line is the season's, worked out once from its totals (made over attempted; for a rating, points per 100 possessions), so it has no total, standard deviation or band; a game with nothing to count it over (no attempt, say) has no dot.
Box plots: each box is the middle half of a season's games, from the first quartile (Q1) to the third (Q3), with a line at the median; the whiskers reach the season's lowest and highest game. A quartile falling between two games is interpolated between them.
